Lucky for me I live on a college campus with access to like 10 computers at all times, and a pair of parents who were willing to drive two hours to come get it so they could take it to the Apple Store I had no way of reaching, but it's still a pain.
AT LEAST I HAVE GUITAR HERO 5 YEAAAAHHH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH
Ahh! Back from falling off the face of the planet, now!
Sorry about that. I always get caught up in everything else and I'm a terrible journaler. You probably already figured out I wasn't dead from the pictures I just posted a couple days ago, but it's been way too long since my last journal so here we go.
Summer camp at Treehaven went awesomely, more so than I could have imagined. I actually really want to go back. Don't get me wrong, it was a LOT of work (all day, every day), but it was a lot of work that I shared with my crew of five, so everything worked out. I snuck through with straight A's and one B--by some magic, I don't even know how that happened. The whole thing is just kind of a blur of catching fish, counting trees, measuring trees, surveying angles, learning RIDICULOUSLY LONG SCIENTIFIC NAMES, trudging through underbrush, catching chipmunks, digging holes...and lots of other stuff. It was intense, for a six-week-seven-credit course. But so worth it.
I forgot to take my camera, though, and I'm kind of kicking myself for it since I'll never get a chance to go again and there was a lot of cool stuff to take pictures of. Oh well. I can just DRAW everything that happened!
So now I'm back at for-real school, I know, that's the only thing I ever write about, right? Don't worry, I'll keep it short. It's going okay so far. That's all I've really got to say about it for now, but things will probably start picking up further into the semester.
You know that old adage 'An apple a day keeps the doctor away?' Yeah, of course you do. Well it's not true. It should be 'an Apple a day keeps EVERYTHING away, and you can't have nice things because your hipster computer won't run the things you want it to, you silly child, THIS IS THE PRICE YOU PAY FOR HAVING A MAC ELITIST OLDER BROTHER.'
Or, you know...words to that effect.
Don't get me wrong, my Macbook is a great computer. The only problem I've ever had with it was the battery wore out, and it got replaced under warranty and everything. I've been running scot-free for two years, I basically get free tech support since my brother knows damn near everything about Macs, they're super and fantastic and easy to use and all that garbage you see on the commercials. There's just a couple problems.
Macs are expensive. That would be fine and dandy, depending what you want to do with it, but since I've been turning more and more into an Internet crawler, I keep running across more and more things that won't run. Not many indie games (or really, games PERIOD) port to Mac (Thanks, Cave Story!), the oh-god-anyone-who-is-anyone-has-this-art-program SAI doesn't run on Mac, everything is different, to the point where I had to keep going to the downstairs computer lab last semester because there was ONE thing that just didn't show up on the Mac version of Excel. I want my $2000 worth, Apple.
I've been looking into things like Wine and Boot Camp, but I gotta face the fact that I'm really stupid when it comes to setting up any kind of technology. (All the better for the Mac crowd, right? HAWR HAWR HAWR.) I need to start drilling the guys at computer stores for some answers.
Whine whine whine. Oh well. For now I have a computer that doesn't have to crash to be reliable like my roommate's, and that does MOST of what I want it to do. Just not all.
The games thing means I've been watching Let's Plays like a mad fiend, and I'm not even going to go into the Youtube addiction that has instilled in me. In short, I have been watching way too many LPs.
Instead of drawing, obviously. Oh, drawing. You might notice if you took a look through my gallery that a LOT of stuff is gone. Most of it is just old crap that I didn't want hanging around anymore, but I also kind of wanted to...oh, I dunno, clean up a little? The genre of what I'm drawing now is kind of all over the place, but I'd rather be all over the place than stuck in this goshdarned furry rut that I've been in for so long. It is time to open up new doooors!
WOOOOAARGH! I'M GONNA DRAW WHATEVER I WANT!
MAYBE!

"Drawing smut is a lot easier, because with writing, you have to get down into the nitty gritty. I never want to write the words 'She wrapped her lips around his pulsing member.'
...oh. Damn."
